Alen Bokšic (born January 21, 1979 in Makarska, Yugoslavia) is a
former Croatian football forward.
On the club level, Bokšic has played for Hajduk Split (1987-91),
AS Cannes (1991-92), Olympique Marseille (1992-93), Lazio
(1993-96 and 1997-2000), Juventus (1996-97), and Middlesbrough
(2000-03). In his lone full season with Marseille, he led France
in goals with 23, won the league title, and helped his club to
the European Cup. His late career was ravished by injuries, and
he retired in 2003.
For Croatia, Bokšic was capped 40 times, scoring ten goals. He
played at his country at Euro 96 and finally made his World Cup
debut in 2002: he was a member of the Yugoslavia squad in 1990,
but did not play, and missed Croatia's surprising third place
run in the 1998 Cup due to injury. |
